About Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve
Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve features the tallest dunes in North America and are the centerpiece in a diverse landscape of grasslands, wetlands, conifer and aspen forests, alpine lakes, and tundra. Established in 2004, today you can experience this diversity through hiking, sand sledding, wildlife watching, and splashing in the "surge flow" of Medano Creek, where water comes in rhythmic waves!
